MiG-29 Fulcrum: an Eastern legend in your home

The Cold War was a catalyst for incredible technological progress. When the F-15 and F-16 appeared in the West, the Soviet Union had to respond with something that could match them in maneuvering combat. Thus one of the world’s most recognizable aircraft was born, a symbol of agility and raw power—a frontline fighter that still commands respect in the skies today. The Reobrix 33024 set lets you build this aviation icon, made up of an impressive 1,387 pieces.

MiG-29 Fulcrum: an Eastern legend in your home

The aircraft was developed by the legendary Soviet design bureau Mikoyan and Gurevich (RSK MiG). This company, credited with famous designs from the Vietnam War era (such as the MiG-15 and MiG-21), created a new-generation machine in the 1970s. The MiG-29 was intended as an answer to the American "Lightweight Fighter" program, becoming the workhorse of the Warsaw Pact air forces.

Operational role

The MiG-29 (NATO reporting name: Fulcrum) is a short-range air-superiority fighter. Its main task is to win air dominance directly over the front line and protect ground assets.

  • Supermaneuverability: Designed for close-in turning fights ("dogfight"), where a tight turning radius and lightning-fast response matter.

  • Interception: Rapid scramble launches to intercept enemy bombers or fighters.

  • Support: Although primarily a fighter, newer versions (and upgrades) are adapted to attack ground targets.

MiG-29 became one of the most widely exported fighters in the world. It has served or serves in the air forces of more than 30 countries, including:

  • USSR/Russia: The main user and producer.

  • Ukraine: A key aircraft in the country’s current defense.

  • India: One of the largest foreign operators.

  • Poland: The Polish Air Force has operated these aircraft since the late 1980s and early 1990s (based, among other places, at Malbork Air Base). Poland’s "Migs" are currently being gradually phased out, but for decades they formed the backbone of our air defense.

Key specifications

What sets the real aircraft that the Reobrix model is based on apart is, above all, its aerodynamics:

  • Top speed: Mach 2.3 (over 2,400 km/h).

  • Ceiling: 18,000 meters.

  • Armament: A 30 mm GSh-30-1 cannon and underwing hardpoints for air-to-air missiles (R-27, R-73).

  • Unique features: The ability to operate from improvised airfields (thanks to closable air intakes) and the capability to perform the "Cobra" maneuver—an abrupt pitch-up of the aircraft’s nose that allows it to "brake" and let a pursuing enemy overshoot.

The Reobrix 33024 set is a treat for fans of Eastern aviation, offering a highly detailed rendition of this beautiful aircraft.

  • Scale and details (1,387 pieces): Such a large number of bricks suggests the model is in a large scale (probably close to 1:35 or 1:32), which makes it possible to capture the aircraft’s distinctive lifting-body silhouette (fuselage integrated with the wings).

  • Livery: The set often comes in "pixel" (digital) camouflage or classic gray, referencing the contemporary colors of Ukrainian or Polish aviation.

  • Functionality:

    • Movable control surfaces: Ailerons and rudders that can be set in different positions.

    • Landing gear: Sturdy landing gear allows you to place the model safely on a shelf.

    • Armament: The model is richly equipped with mounted missiles, giving it an aggressive, combat-ready look.

  • Educational value: Building such a complex airframe from bricks helps you understand the principles of aerodynamics and the unique design solutions of Soviet engineers (e.g., widely spaced engines).

Reobrix 33024 MiG-29 is an impressive model that will be a decoration for any military collection. Whether you’re interested in Cold War history or modern Polish aviation—this fighter is simply a must-have.
